Contents

1. What is calisthenic ?

Calisthenics is a word from
“Kalo” which means beauty
And “Sthenos” which means strength

Calisthenics is a practice that manages to build your own muscles and strength using your own body resistance.

Calisthenics (often referred to by its name in English calisthenics) is a practice consisting of a set of physical exercises of gymnastics and strength training aimed at improving the physical capacities and aesthetics of the body. According to the times and the countries, the forms and definitions of calisthenics have varied.

The term “calisthenics” comes from the ancient Greek kalos (κάλος), which means “beautiful” (to emphasize the harmonious development of the body), and from sthenos (σθένος), which means “strength” (great mental strength, courage, strength and determination). It is the art of using your body weight as resistance to develop your physique.

This discipline has become very popular since a guy in the United States promotes calisthenics by King Anibal

2. Callisthenic or gym ?

Unlike bodybuilding, in calisthenics all the work is done with the weight of the body.

This means that you don’t need a lot of equipment since in some cases you just need to use your body weight against a wall or floor type surface.

The difference is of size and the important consequences on the type of bodybuilding, since the musculature will not be the same.

You can experience it either by replacing the gym with exercises at home.

And we can also see it on the body of athletes, whose musculature is not at all the same according to body builders and calisthenics practitioners, see gymnasts.
